Where is the sensor that that tells the dashboard gauge the engine temp Is it the one that is below the 2 ignition coils it has one wire going to the connector. I have a v8 1999 mercury mountaineer I already replaced the sensor note connector was real tough to push on gave autozone my car info said this su284vc is the correct part now the old part easy to plug in no excessive force needed had to oil new part very little oil was used on outside of plastic electrical contacts are oil free still no temp guage reading the old sensor read a little above cold when it was 15 deg out few months ago. it was today 67 deg If i let the car sit with ignition on it moves above cold a little new part under cold ran car for 2-3 min hood closed at 2 rpm had heater on it was normal. The gauge did not move its under cold mark. Also sitting loose is this part 2 pieces says ford on the square piece single wire from the same harness that connects to the ignition coils wire is red with a stripe wht or grey stripe is this a ground if it is whats it for? please let me know asap. thank you
