i've noticed for a long time that when i turn my steering wheel i get a soft squeek sound. When i lift the hood and look at the steering rod thing (not sure what its called) but where it comes into the engine bay in the area around the power steering pump. the rod is shinny in just one place like its scrapping against something.
I'll have to take a picture tomorrow if some of you are confused.

what is causing this squeek and how could i stop it

broken motor mount perhaps??? Dunno what else is close enough for the steering shaft to be rubbing on? The other thing it might be is the joint at the steering box. (if it has a steering box and not a rack & pinion) If it does have a steering box, there' s usually a "rag" joint or rubber disc that acts as a u-joint to allow the shaft to align with the box. If that's broke it'll let things move around and perhaps rub something. Just a possibility.
