So im pretty much down to my last hope on trying to get rid of this terrible pinging i have , and i finally bought some seafoam but havent used it yet. me and my friend wants to double check with u guys/girls before hand. Anyways it says to use through the throttle body, So basically take off the huge intake hose from the throttle body side and pour it in through there???? No sure how much??? also it says i can use it in my gas tank, I feel more comfortable doing it this way. It tells me to use 1 Pint which is the whole can. Is that the right amount??? Can someone please help me out with this before i go and try it.... Thanks alot Thomas

Its hard to put it through the throttle body. I unhooked the brake booster line and slowly sucked it up that way, but i've read in a couple threads that there are better ways to do it so that it reaches all the cylinders. Maybe someone else will chime in.

Its hard to put it through the throttle body.
Its hard but not impossible, more on that in a bit. I used it last week (the liquid form, not the spray can) and noticed a HUGE improvement in idle quality, engine quietness, and overall drive performance. It sounds to me like you may have a sticky lifter or valve spring in which case I'd think addition of Seafoam to the crankcase would be most beneficial as it cleans the crank/cam cases and engine heads. The BB-line/TB insertion cleans the intake and exhaust manifolds and cylinder heads, addition to the gas tank cleans fuel pump and lines, filter, injectors, and cylinder heads. I put 1/3 of the can through the brake booster line (wishing I had done more, maybe 1/2 can instead of 1/3 can), also put 1/2 can in the crankcase, and a full can in the tank with 10 gallons of gas. Then I let it set for about 10-15 minutes and started it up, cruised around for about 20 minutes until the smoke cleared. I've read that it doesn't hit all the cylinders through the brake booster line but it helped enough to convince me it did what it was supposed to do. Other successful points of insertion would be the air intake tube (spray form only) or an oil pump or funnel with a feeder tube a couple of inches into the throttle body (liquid form only). Hope this helps.

when u put it in the tank, did it or will it smoke still??????

nope but u can smell the seafoam in the exhaust. the only thing that will make smoke is addition to the intake

If the PCV valve is anything like mine is go's to the front of the plenum (maybe not on your engine tho) In my mind it will follow the airflow front to back and get all cylinders.
I put a tee inline as I seafoam every couple mos.
called seafoam and was told thats the best insertion point, many people use the booster line, just do's not make sense to me

My 2-cents:

I used the spray and it smoked like none other. I've tried the liquid in both the TB and the BBline and the spray, by far, worked best - TONS of smoke!

Well im gonna try to put it in the tank first... should i put it in right before i fill up or after????

i would say before, but it'll mix up as soon as you start to fill it up..

alright thanks, im just gonna try that first since its the easy way, and if that dont work i'll try putting it through the lines. Im just afraid to do it since i heard so much about hydrolocking ur truck and all.

I used a hair dye bottle when i used the liquid in the TB. I attached a long piece of plastic tubing to the bottle nozzle and fed it through temp sensor port in the tube towards the throttle body - you'll need to work the throttle to get it to suck it up.

A third of the bottle (about 5oz?) into the intake should not hydrolock your engine, just follow the directions.

Another user here disconnected the intake tube from the MAF, and bent it upwards (keeping his hand or a piece of cardboard on the end to produce "vacuum" in the tube) then he poured the seafoam into the oil cooler port in the intake tube.

You really need 3-4 hands to do the TB method.

[ For me, the spray was the easiest, as you don't need the engine running to do it. Warm the engine, spray directly into the TB throat (use the supplied straw to aim towards the individual ports), wait 5 minutes or so, then start it up. Depending on the buildup you've just released, you'll need to stay on the throttle when starting it up. Prepare for the smokescreen - have a camera ready ]

Oh, yeah, warn the neighbors!

Isn't there a vacuum hose on the bottom of the throttle body that would work similair to the brake booster method except hit all of the cylinders? I seem to remember a thread a while back on that method. As i am about to do this as well i would like to hear about this as well. :D
