Hey all. On my 2010 Eddie Bauer, when I get out of the truck, and lock the doors, the interior lights as well as the puddle lights stay on for a bit.

I love the feature... The only issue is, my Viper alarm will chirp once when I lock it, then again as it "bypasses" that zone since it thinks I left lights on.

Which brings me to my actual question. Sometimes I notice when I lock it, I don't get the second chirp, and the courtesy lights are not on. I thought maybe the light sensor on the dash was telling them it was too bright. But sometimes they stay on in the middle of the day. Other times they're off.

Can anyone confirm if the courtesy light feature uses the light sensor to know whether or not to actually leave the lights on?

Thanks!

Justin

I have a xlt v6 and I just got a aftermarket remote start put on. Here is what I have noticed when I use the factory remote to lock the car all the lights turn off after pressing the lock button. If I use the remote start lock the lights will stay on for 30 seconds or so then turn off.

I do know that if you unlock my car with the factory remote during the day the courtesy lights will not come on at night they will. With the remote start they do not come on at all.

07 xlt... my puddle lamps and interiors come one day or night... the only difference is the fog lights only come on when its dusk/dawn.... but all go off when I hit lock, and this is with factory fob and systems

Hmmm ok.

I only have the Viper remotes. Unlocking it doesnt turn on any lights, which I wish it did. When I get out, and close the door, the lights stay on for a bit. I think that is part of the Explorer's programming though. You can set the delay on the dash display.

If I lock it right away, I get a second chirp saying the lights are still on. If I wait for the lights to go out, I get no second chirp.

Just weird because I feel like some days when I get out, the lights are out. Other days when the sun is out the lights stay on.
