While working on trying to get my wife's courtesy lights working on our 2001 Ford Explorer we now have several problems that have seemed to have popped out of nowhere. First, the copper rings that connect the courtesy lights are pretty busted up. I removed the bulbs and the rings fell apart. I didn't put the bulb receptacles back in. When I went to drive the xplr an hour or so later all four windows wouldn't roll down (I tried each button on the driver's side as well as each individual door button) and the 4x4 low & high lights flashed three to six times every couple of minutes. I still drove the xplr and didn't notice any performance problems except the blinking lights and windows. I checked all fuses and even disconnected ground wire from battery hoping to reset any issues. My question is would having those grounding rings for the courtesy lights cause the windows not to work and the flashing 4x4 lights? A buddy of mine says it may be a common grounding loop but I am hesitant to see how that can affect the issues I am having. Has anyone seen an issue like this before? Thanks for any advice, JoJo
