Does anyone have experience with the Crime Guard series of alarms from Crutchfield. I was interested in the 745i3 from Crutchfield for $199.00. It says it has

-2-zone/2-stage interior/exterior microwave sensor registers motion in or immediately around your vehicle for coverage when you leave the windows or sunroof open or the convertible top down; can also protect pickup beds and inside camper tops

- glass break sensor

- built-in dome light relay turns on the interior light when you disarm the system

-built-in door lock relays

-pager port.

Can someone with some experience give me some opinions on this alarm. I am interested but definitely need some feedback before I buy. Just in case, it is on page 83 of new Crutchfield.

Wow man, sorry I don't have any input on it but that looks like one nice alarm system... I just might buy one for myself! I live in a "crime free zone" where my entire system got ripped off right in front of my house, and insurance didn't cover it. I am definitely in the market for a fantastic alarm system now, and with motion, glass breakage, and shock sensors, that system looks like the way to go! I am going to look for some opinions on it elsewhere on the 'net. If I find any, I will post the URLs.

Just don't forget one thing - I highly recommend that anytime you install an alarm you also install an auxiliary alarm battery inside the vehicle somewhere - this will provide power to the alarm if the power lines to the standard battery are cut!! Someone tried this on my "alarmed" Camaro several years ago (they actually crawled under the front of the car, reached up, and started cutting power cables) and missed one little cable - which saved my system and car from theft! If they had cut that last cable - the alarm would not have functioned. Needless to say, I had to replace all the cables going to the battery and then installed the backup battery kit from Crimestopper. It only cost an additional $70 and was easy to install. Now the alarm functions even with the battery disconnected!!

back up battery

Thanks for the input first of all. In crutchfield in the description it says it is included with a back-up battery (9 volt) that keeps the alarm going if your car battery dies or a thief disables it.
