Hello all.
I currently am facing another issue with my 2004 XLT 4.0 that only started this past weekend (April 8th).

Has anyone had the below issue and if so how was it resolved?

Took it to the Mechanic as a 4month old battery died and a replacement 2 day old battery died.
The mechanic said that there is "something funny" going on as one or all of the modules are drawing currently in an unusual way/acting differently. He did remove my aftermarket music to see if this was the issue but there was no significant drop when he disconnected the positive feed.
He advised that I need to have a dealership look at it as it could be:
  1. The computer is going to "sleep".
  2. Identify what is specifically occurring on in the modules to have this current draw.

Thanks in advance.

Here is what you do. with a full battery Hook up a DMM in current draw to the hot wire. Then go one by one through the fuse box and pull the fuses until you see the draw drop back to a reasonable amount. Then you have your bad circuit, go hunting for a short or a bad component. Dont hit the key or you will pop the fuse in your dmm. Use an external not a tap in probe if you have one accessable.

Thank you Tech. I'll pull out mu old Multi-Meter and try that.

Lots of people have had this issue. One car I fixed had a door lock switch stuck. My Explorer has a malfunction in the instrument cluster which keeps the interior lighting relay on at all times. The previous owner merely ripped out the sun visors and ceiling pod and threw them out the window. That fixed it.

Meanwhile, TechbyTrade got here with the real answer: Troubleshooting.
Auto-electric. The most fun job you can do. The Ford Explorer is extra fun because you can't get at the Central Junction Box without a Sawzall.
You're going to need the wiring book.
