Hey guys, I found an explorer today in pick-n-pull that had 3.73 gears and a traction loc carrier. Obviously the rear is easy to disassemble, but I'm having a problem removing the front carrier. I've got the drivers and pass sides axles taken out of the knuckles, the drive shaft disconnected, and all the bolts out of the front of the axle. The damn carrier still won't budge, I think there's a bolt on the drivers side outboard of the carrier that is stopping me from removing this thing.

Does the radius arm have to be removed in order to remove this pinch bolt, or is there an easier way of doing this?

Are you talking about the carrier or the Third Member? hehe

Yes there is a vertical bolt on the driverside of the third member. You will have to either grind down 3/16" of an inch on the radius arm to clear the bolt, or cut the bolt in half.

Removing the radius arm would work but is WAY too much work... haha, die grinder or saw, your pick.

Something tells me that I'm gonna have to move the radius arm out of the way as I can't get power or air in pick-n-pull to notch the radius arm. I will probably notch mine while I'm working in the garage though.

Does anyone know the size of the sockets/wrenches I'm gonna need for this pinch bolt and the radius arm nut? and does this pinch bolt have to be installed back in place, or is it redundant?
