My dash lights are going out. I put in a new head light switch and same thing after a few minutes the lights go out.. I hear a clicking under the dash when I flip the dimer switch . this all started when I turned on my auto dimming mirror for the first time in years.. help please

Unplug the autolamp wire from the back passenger side of the mirror. If the issue goes away you have isolated the problem. The autolamp only affects the lights, it will not change operation of other systems.

I assume you are referring to the autolamp - the slide control on bottom of your rear view mirror that has a little green light when activated. For the life of me I never saw mine dim anyone's lights behind me.

The main purpose feature is a daylight sensor on the rear of the mirror which turns your headlights on when it is dark outside. The delay timer keeps your lights turned on for a period of time after shutting off the truck. The further to the right, the longer the lights stayed on. (It was marketed as safety feature so you weren't walking around with your groceries in the dark after returning from the store at night if I recall the commercials correctly).
