I have visited this forum many times and always learnedhelpful stuff. I am hoping someone can shed some light on my situation. I havean94a4ld with new tc, clutches, plates, seals servos, modulator, and rebuilt valve body. She has reverse butonly forward gearsoff the ground. When cold there is shift in od all the way through the gears. The warmer it gets the worse it gets. Checked tps, replaced maf, vss, and pulled codes 118,998,335,565. Last night I pulled code 157 but lost it after resetting. Where am I losing foward torque? :(

You have a huge leak some where. Pump tight to bell, presure reg valve hung open? Got enough fluid in it? Stop throwing parts at it and put a presure gauge on it.

Dazed and cofusuded

Headed t harbor freight in the morning for kit. I will let u know the readings. Thanks for your responce. Just wondering if pcm is responsible? Or did I get a bum tc from rockauto? I have already tore itdown with nothing visably wrong. Diffently need pressure check.:salute:

pcm has no influence on pressure on an A4LD. It does have correct filter with o rings installed?

dazed and confused

Sure does. I checked pressure. P-1 except R (62-64 psi). R had 90-100. FI P-1 except R , 66psi. R was off the 150 scale inFI. No movement like I said so ended here after checking twice. Ready to keep on ticking with some advice.

Max pressure with line off modulator in drive should be 180-220 psi.
Make sure you got a A4LD modulator and not one for a C3. If wrong it wont let converter fill.

I am not sure. It came with rebuild kit. I still have old one. I will investigate. Thanks for ur time and advice.

still dazed and confused

Hello, I have checked the modulator and it is correct. I also did a pressure check again. The codes that pulled before are from my 94 to 96 motor swap. I combined the wirng harness to keep the 94 brain. I put 2000 miles on it before the tranny problem. Never new check engine light did not work until I pulled codes. The codes were 118 broke sensor, 565 canistor purge ssolenoid, 335 egr solenoid. None of these would effect my current tranny problem . I don't believe? With my second pressure test with tires off ground put in od let it take and she shifts out. Running 65 psi in 1-3-4, 120 psi in 2nd. As she warm there is loss of torque. Same readings no movement. Bands are ajusted right. There was no code for mytcc or 3-4 solenoids. had first pull because tranny went out. Put back and pulled aftr relizing I was ripped a good one from atrans man. Rebuilt myself . Then I have since replaced valvebody. Same results. Pulled tranny again replacedoverdriveband and plates and clutches due to signs of burn do to band ajustment, thanks to another tranny guy. My last install has same results. The pump was not removed from bell housing. That is why I did a pressure test. The manuel I ordered wth tranny kit did not include my transmission. Used what I could find online "explorer forum". I have just about talked myself into another pull. No matter what the outcome I will still b ticking.

Is it possible to get juust torque converter checked. However, it is new.

I have checked voltage output at the pcm for the tcc and 3-4 solenoid. Like I posted before there is only shift when cold and tires off ground. I hooked up clips to meter and no voltage drop on meter. Voltage stays at 13.46. Should I have seen the drop? Are the mechanics of the tranny the only reason I feel slight shift and of coarse see on tach? I have checked the tps, maf, and vss. I will check the rabs sensor tomorrow. Maybe I can get voltage drop if something changes there? I did pull code 513 on my fist test. This seemed to clear after replacing bad maf and clearing codes. Plz, feel free to input on this situation. Hopefully, I have at least rule out electrical after tomorrow. Still ticking.

Something in your fwd drum is not applying. Did you use the right thickness rubber cushion on fwd piston. Stack up wrong, snap ring popped out. Sounds like you are going to have to go back in.good luck and let us know what you find.
