OK so I have this 98 DD with the crappy radio display that breaks. Can't fix it. Thinking of replacing it with an aftermarket unit, probably MP3. Things I am looking into:

1) still using the steering wheel remote.... http://www.go2pac.com/products/swi.htm looks like it should work out well, anyone used it?

2) Not over kill, I have my other X for that. Just want something that sounds nice for daily driving.

3) If I replace the HU maybe get some middle of the road speakers and power them from the HU? Will that give decent sound? Or should I stay going through the factory amp?

3)a) if I didtch the factory amp by going straight to the speakers will the factory sub still work? How will it sound with aftermarket HU?

Basically I think I want to just replace the HU, for now, preserving the steering wheel controlls, all the speakers and the sub. Gotta be an improvment?
