CB radios are fine and dandy if you are close and have good line of sight. But seeing how this is CO, that usually doesn't happen for very long. Ham radios are quickly gaining in popularity. They are crystal clear and have significantly more range than a CB.
A license will cost $15 after you pass an easy to study for exam. And a handheld radio can be had for about $35.
This class is not the proctored test, just an intro class given by other offroad enthusiasts.
