2013 Explorer Limited
Just got back from ordering my 2013 Explorer Limited.

4WD
Package 300A.
Sterling Gray and Charcoal black

I hope they follow through and keep me posted. Made 2 specific recommendations:

Keep the milage down (less than 20)
No dealer badges glued to the back

Now I wait.

Here is a question. I have a written offer for my trade. I will be driving my trade during the 6 - 8 weeks while I wait for the Ford. My car is in excellent condition and not in need of any repairs. Are there any "surprises" the dealer may try to pull to get me to spend more or for them to pay less for my trade?

Probably, but I would have asked them... Usually they don't do anything unless you decide to drop 10,000 miles on the odometer in those weeks... Being that it is that long, I would talk to them to avoid surprises.

I also hate dealer badges. I walked away from a car deal over badges that were put on. :)

My dealer did not change my deal after 8 weeks when my Ex Ltd came in...

Woo-hoo!!!! You're getting there :)

We picked up out 2013 a few days ago. We too had a trade-in. We put a little over two thousand extra miles on it in the time we were waiting for our Explorer. They actually ended up giving us $250 more on the trade to keep the sale (it was a rebate goof-up on their part and we worked something out), so I would say you have nothing to worry about.

4 weeks down, 2 - 4 more weeks to go!

Wow another one that is going to be built before mine. Congrats but don't be surprised if they put everyone else on hold as soon as my order showed up. Ordered mine on the 30th but no VIN yet.

They're probably just moving so quickly on it that they said "we don't need no stinking VIN." ... I hope it's not that my dealer doesn't have allocation and it's being held up by the Allocation Nazi. No Explorer for you!!!

How soon after your order did you get a VIN?

No VIN yet. I got the old "Waiting for an update from the factory" response when I asked.

Waiting is so much fun.

I would look at your DORA and see what priority code dealer put in for order. There is an older thread that links to a long post on another website that explains the order process, priorty coding, and how orders are pulled.

I put my original order in back in March for XLT w/ 2nd row buckets & it was coded as a priority 11 by dealer. After hearing of another delay on bucket builds on xlt, I changed order to get a Limited. On 4/23 dealer modificed order and provided me with new DORA with a priority 10 (that was a Monday). Three days later, I was assigned a VIN. But some of the speed of my processing of order could be due to fact system may accounted for original order back in March.

My ride was just built on 5/15. Waiting out shipping time now.

:salute:

EDIT - found old thread on order
Here is a good link to an old post that describes the order/allocation system very well.

I can lend a hand by researching your order status, maliboo74. :) Since you don’t have a VIN yet, please shoot me a PM with your order number & dealer info.

Joe Dirt, Pete1, & VinceL,

Thanks for helping out; this just proves how awesome the community is here. :D:thumbsup:

Thanks for the reply Cory. I hope they get the parts for my tow package soon. I wonder if they can send someone out to the parking lot to snag the one off Gatortailale's? I'm sure he won't mind. :D

That’s not a good idea, Since95; I don’t think Gatortailale will like that. LOL

I just received a call from the Ford dealer that my car is expected to be delivered either today or tomorrow. That would be just under 5 weeks if it's true.

Cory, they gave me the VIN # but I don't think we need to check up on the order status anymore :)

Thanks!

I am in the same boat... I have a written estimate for the trade though and they said any additional mileage would not matter. Just remember this...if they try any funny business you can walk away. You can even drive your car to another dealer and trade it in there, get a check, and bring it back to the original dealer to use as a down payment. I am willing to do the same with financing...if they try to change any terms I'll just finance with my bank (already preapproved). You just have to remember you're the one with the power...not them.

Just got home from the dealer. Exactly 5 weeks from the date I paid the deposit. Had 8.9 miles on it. I am a happy guy today!

Not only did they NOT try anything funny when I paid, I got the updated rebate (1000 vs 500) and used the 750 Private cash!

Congratulations!!

Love the color too ;)

I'm starting to feel like the kid who was held back in school. New explorer owners are coming and going. They're graduating from the Order Status threads to the General Discussion threads, and finally off to the real world in the MFT threads.

Looks like I'll be the 40 year old first grader. At least I have company with Mrs Kane -- She's nice, she won't leave me here!!!

Anyway Maliboo come back to your old alma mater. There will be pics of a Red one from me, although it might be a while. That ride sure looks sweet!
