I bought a pair of Motorcraft brr102's for the rear but while fighting with the old ones I noticed they look different. Oddly, the factory rotors is stamped BOSCH, I figured it would have been motorcraft or fomoco. Anyway, it almost looks like the rotor is welded to the cup that goes under the wheel nut, circled in red. The brr102 is just beveled. Is this correct or did I end up with the wrong parts? Tomorrow morning I am going to try the bolt trick from youtube which was mentioned in another thread here.

Its probably not welded - just rusted on from weather and braking heat/cold cycles.

I finally got done with this job, the bolt trick worked great. For anyone that is contemplating this, let me give you some info. I put my truck up on jack stands 3 times before I got everything worked out and had to make two 60 mile round trips on beat-up rotors to get the right size. You will need 2 8mm-1.25 3" bolts, 4 nuts & 4 washers. Total cost $3.56 at the big box. The extra nuts & washer probably weren't necessary on my '03 but I wasn't taking any chances after the previous fiasco. Also, make sure you thread at least one lug nut back on as the rotor will come off with some force. Not exactly what you want landing on your feet. Most importantly, eye protection and maybe ear protection. I'm half deaf but it still hurt my ears when it broke free. After 2 days of hammering, both side were off within a minute. Clean everything up with a wire brush and Bob's your uncle.

As an aside, this site and it's members (especially BigRondo) are a wonderful asset to the Explorer community.

Crap, I forgot to reattach the ebrake assembly.

eta: You should be looking for fully threaded bolts, I think 60mm was the longest with full threads. Also, only put your lug nut(s) on about half way so the rotor does have somewhere to go when it breaks free. I disconnected the ebrake spring on one side but not the other, I couldn't tell a difference so I wouldn't waste the energy unless you specifically think the ebrake pad is hung up. Mine came out without any damage.

snickstx, thank you. I have only been a member since February and I have been helped out a bunch of times and everyone has been great!! I just try to help out when I can as that's the "theme" here. I'm laughing about the e-brake assembly, not at you but with you. I needed to fix my e-brake in Feb when I got my Ex so it would pass inspection. I figured I would do it and the rear brakes at the same time. I couldn't, for the life of me, get the springs on so I had to have my mechanic do it. I found good tips for installing the springs afterwards. I'm glad everything worked out for you! - Rondo
