difference of areostar and b2 a4ld trany

I own a 85 B2 (2.8l duraspark) and a 94 awd Areostar with 4.0l a4ld trany ( I think ) . I was thinking of putting the areostar trany into my B2. So what would I have to do to to make it work without a computer. Next summer I will drop in the 4.0l. But for now I would like to run 2.8 with the areostar trany for the winter.

For temporary use, how important is 4th gear to you? If you did nothing electronically, the A4LD would behave like a traditional 3 speed automatic. Weren't you the one who posted a few days ago where you stated that you've already wired in the TCC lockup switch for the '85 A4LD? If so, the 3-4 shift solenoid circuit looks just like the TCC solenooid circuit, and it shouldn't be too much to add a second switch. For temporary use like that, I'd be tempted to just let it be a 3 speed until I got around to dropping the 4.0 in.

I don't know for sure if the BW 13-50 (or 13-59 if 2wd BII) will bolt up to the aerostar tranny. I know the 13-50 and 13-54 (used in '90's Rangers/Explorers) will interchange readily, but I don't know what t-case the aerostar uses or if it bolts up to the same tailshaft housing/output shaft as the 13-50.

There might be some other minor differences (like dipstick configuration) between the van and the SUV, but I would expect those to be easily resolved.

I just cooked the trany in the bronc2. Now if I rebuilt the VB in the bronco and put it into the areostar trany it should work. The areostar trany works great and it suppose to be built stonger from what I have heard and read. So any input?

So what Im going to do is use 85 VB rebuilt with a shift kit. Install it into the areostar trany with 85 gaskets and separator plate. I will be using the TCC from the areostar.
Any thing else I should add to it?
