What kind of trucks/cars can I get a traction lock differential out of that will fit in my 2001 Cobra. I have seen that Explorers all have 31 spline lockers in the rear axle and that the new Explorer has an IRS. Also do F-150's have 31 spline? Will they have no problem fitting in the Cobra/Tbird SC IRS housing? Are there any other vehicles they have these differentials? I need any help if you can give it. I would like to put a set of 4.10's in but I really would like to have an extra full center section.

Personally, I wouldn't go with a trac-lok in a Cobra. Sure - they can be rebuilt, but that it an awful lot of torque. Consider an Auburn Pro series LS. The Auburn has a complete carrier with it. Set up may be tricky as you might need to grind the inside of the ring down a bit (normal procedure with the Auburn and 4.56's). The trac-lok simply is a clutch that goes inside the spider gears. They work great on the little motors the explorers have, but I would be concerned with their ability with that much power...

Couldn't you just install a Powertrax No-Slip locker in your existing carrier. I believe they make the No-Slip locker specifically for the Mustang.

I am looking to get a whole extra center. It is much easier to build one and then do a quick rear end swap than it is to pull it out, do the gear swap, and then put it back in. I am just trying to find out what would be the best way to go. I can get a hollow Tbird SC section pretty cheap but the problem I am having is that the carrier is hard to find being that it is a 31 spline.

We have the Auburn Pro with 4.56 in a 8.8 and we love it. The auburn workd great.
