I am going to tackle this project my self and had a few questions.
1. What pads should I buy and how much are they normally...any brands to avoid?
2. Can the Rear rotors usually be turned? I keep on hearing that the rotors on newer cars are use once and throw away.
3. Is it possible to to change the rear pads with out breaking open the lines?
4. If I do have to brake open the lines, is there any special things that have to be done to bleed the brakes since the car has ABS? (only done brake work on non ABS cars in the past)
5. Any other info or tidbits Im missing?

Trevor,
1. not sure on Xs, others will let you know
2. yes, the rotors can be turned if they meet minimum specs, they are not one use only
3. & 4. There should be no reason to open lines, and no use to bleed.

Hope this helps,
Robb

Thanks Robb! Glad to hear that I dont have to bust open the lines...cause when you do, that immediately makes it a two person job.

(yes I do have friends to help me, its just they will all be at work when I am working on my X) ;)

man, oh man. are you in luck! i just replaced my rear rotors an pads like 2 hours ago. (now enjoying a well deserved cold one for an easy job well done):D nope, you wont have to remove lines. all you do is take out the 2 bolts that hold on the caliper and remove it. dont let it hang by the brake line, i layed mine on the leaf spring. take old pads out, put new ones in, put some brake caliper lube on the caliper bolts (cuz the caliper "floats"on these), and re-install. yup, you can have your rear rotors turned if they are in spec (it will be stamped on the rotor). it takes some pounding with a rubber hammer to get 'em off. no hard stuff, if you nick the rotor it may be deep enough that they cant get it out when you have 'em turned. good luck, and if you have anymore Q's just ask...

Thanks James

Last question yet unanswered it what pads I should get?!?!? Should I get carbon metalics or organic? Any bad experiences with a particular brand?

i have used Performance Friction carbon-metallics in a number of vehicles and i have never had any problems. thats what i just put on mine...
