So I am collecting quotes to get my tranny rebuilt, and one of the dealers said that their price includes new tranny cooler. I was trying to explain that the cooler is part of the radiator, but he said that he sees a part number for the cooler.

Is there one ? I never saw it. The lines go directly to radiator.

Nope, just the integrated tranny cooler in the radiator from the factory. They must be confusing the AC condenser on the front for a tranny cooler.

Wait, what am I saying... there is a small transmission oil cooler on the passenger side in front of the AC condenser on all factory tow package equipped Explorers/Mountaineers. See here: http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/P...true&year=2006&make=Mercury&model=Mountaineer I am not exactly sure how it is plumbed, but it is there.

That's weird. I went on Fordparts.com, entered my VIN and it's showing a tranny cooler hooked up with the 2 tranny lines. I looked under my car and the tranny lines just go into the radiator, as opposed to the way they show on the diagram where they have additional hoses splitting one of the lines and going up to the cooler.

I stand corrected.

I "found" the tranny cooler like Gibby said on the passenger side. There is the radiator, then in front of it AC condenser, and then in front of that, a little below a tranny cooler.

I guess you learn everyday.

Strange. I just looked at all 5 of the Ford Towing Guides from '06 to '10. The terminology on the page containing towing package details is very weird in some cases.

2006-2009:
Aux Auto Trans Oil Cooler = "-"
Transmission Oil-to-Air Cooler = "Std"
-->No difference between base towing package, and HD towing package.

2010:
Aux Auto Trans Oil Cooler = "Std"
Transmission Oil-to-Air Cooler = "-" for base. "X" for 53G HD towing package.

I suspect that 2006-2009 was a misprint, which was corrected in 2010.
What they are calling an "Aux" cooler is the in-radiator cooler.
The Oil-to-Air is obviously the radiator-type cooler, which was part of the Class III/IV HD Towing Package.
