Do I need to change Tranny Fluid?

Utter nonsense.

Actually, it sounds stupid but he has a point. I went through this within the first year of having bought my Explorer. I gave the Explorer to my mechanic to fix the front seal of the tranmission, with it he changed out the fluid and filter. The next day it wouldn't catch/go into gear at all. Reverse worked fine, but no forward gear worked. He said that the bits of grit in the fluid helped the transmission catch and go into gear, and since he changed out the fluid there wasn't any grit, so there was nothing to help catch it. Reason reverse worked is becaues you dont' drive as often in reverse.

This is all from my mechanic who has worked on every car I've owned and never had any problems.

Sounds stupid, but I see his point
