do you think this is worth it? new guy here looking for help and info

hello everyone im new to the world of explorer's but not to suv's i have had my share of trucks and suv's what i am looking for is some input on something im looking into i have found a 2003 explorer with 106,200 on it for about 7,000.00 and its fully loaded eddie bower ed. leather moon roof heated seats the whole 9 now what i wana know is !.how are the v8's on gas in this suv i have had v8 before some good some not so good guy tells me it get about 14city 19 highway the other thing is my sister had a 02 or 03 cant remember same body style and i know hers was a nightmare she had to replace 3 wheel bearings all within about 2 months and her engen was slipping when you put it in drive it took a bit then kick in and same in reverse i thought it was the trans. but the tech told her it was the engin now i know not all of these are bad mybe she just got a bad one do you guys ever have these prob. i like the truck but dont wana go throw al the hassel of doing everything she had to go threw then agan i could not have one issue with it just looking for some imput and any issues you guys have had and if you think its a good price if i do get it i my get a full warrenty from a comp. i got 1 from in the past with a truck they were pritty good agan thanks for any info you can give me

I bought an '05 last April, not loaded, but also not bottom of the line, very clean, 100K miles, not V-8, for $7000 also. The '03 is proly All Wheel Drive, which for some is not too welcome. But, the problems your sister had COULD have happened with most any vehicle; they were not typical of all Explorers. Have you test-drove the '03? When you do, look and listen for abnormal things, vibration or noise. Base your decision on how GOOD you feel the vehicles seems to be. imp
