I discovered the perfect hole to pass through the firewall on my '02 XLT when I wired up my after market fogs. It's on the driver's side and has an existing plastic plug in the whole. It's real hard to explain. It's dark out and raining but I will try to take some pictures so you will know exactly what I'm talking about. If I can't get the pictures tonight I will try to get them tomorrow. This hole is pretty big so I think passing an 8GA wire won't be a problem. Stay tuned................;)

Here's the pictures:

This is the view from the engine compartment. The access is behind the brake booster. Look behind the brake booster and down and you will see it.

This is the view from inside the Ex. Follow the brake pedal up to the firewall and look to the left. The red arrow points to the piece that you peel back and the black arrow points to the grommet.

This should provide you with plenty of room to run your 8GA wire. Good luck and keep us posted.

I dont know about the newer Ex's but on my 97 I poked a knife through the gromet where the hood release cable goes through the fire wall. I easily got a 4 and an 8 gauge wire through there together. I poked the knife through it just to make an opening.

Bump for an update :wavey:
