I searched and even looked through the sticky threads, but didn't see anything. Did Ford change the tranny in the 2006 - 2010 Explorer / Mountaineers? My brother might be looking at one, but he doesn't like what's happened with the tranny in my 2005 V8 AWD Mountaineer (starting to slip and act funny with just 70K miles). I thought I read that they upgraded the transmissions in the 06-10 models... :(

Wow- I thought the V8 Gen III transmissions were pretty good... What ended up happening with yours?

I'm interested, since I'm still looking at Gen III's and maybe Gen IV's, depending on reliability issues. I was leaning towards a 2003-2005 V8 Eddie...

It started slipping from 2nd to 3rd gear with probably 65K miles and was just really slow in going into gear sometimes when first moving the lever to D or R. Like it just hangs for a second. I had my mechanic look at it, he's got some tranny experience, he made an adjustment to the valve body and it was good for a while, but it's started to act up again... :(
