- 1996 Ford Explorer XLT
Hello!
So I bought a 96 explorer XLT off craigslist and it's been a great vehicle already (I've only had it a week). I bought it because my doberman puppy and I go hiking a lot and my car just wasn't big enough for him. It's crazy that a 20 year old truck I bought for less than 1000 bucks has heat, A/C and power everything, that work. I've used this forum a bunch already (specially on changing the spark plugs). I do have a few questions. One is the key fob. I changed the batteries and had the remote tested so I know it works. But when I try the "turn the key 8 times method (I've tired 5, 8 and 10)" my locks never cycle for me to be able to program the remote. I think this is because my truck doesn't sensor whether the front drivers door is open or closed. Since they are all supposed to be closed I figure I either need to fix the door sensor or pull a fuse and try the programming method again. Does anyone know how to do that? The other thing is I broke some little green and yellow tubes coming off my EGR when changing my spark plugs. Does anyone know what these little tubes do or where I can find replacements? I'm not sure how to post a picture so here is my fb post with a picture.
