Door Keypad?

Hey I just bought a 96' X XLT. and it has this lil keypad above the door handle. whats this for, does it do something?

Its for keyless entry.. Since you have the keypad, you have keyless entry. The code was hopefully given to you when you bought the vehicle but if it wasn't you can look in the drivers side rear compartment where the jack is located and find the 5 digit permanent code for the truck. You might need a flashlight & mirror to see it. You can also get up to 4 remotes for it.

it can unlock or lock your doors and rear hatch

its like a combination lock, the code is printed on the GEM module inside the rear left interior panel.. just forward of the jack and lug wrench

its just your basic keyless entry system. You can access it just by taking off the access panel for the jack. You just have to look forward and you'll see a little box.. That's where the code is.

no panels have to actually come off, just the little door held in by 2 clips that covers the jack and the lug wrench

it is printed on the outside of the box.. like a sticker on it with a 5 digit code.....

like lets say: 51415 or something like that
