Door Open Switch troubles

1996 Explorer LTD 4dr 4wd has DTC B1330 RF Door Open (ajar) Warning Lamp switch Circuit Short to Ground. EVTM shows this to be a DG/P colored wire shared with LH Front switch and the Liftgate switch.

GEM connector # C280 pin 17.

The wire has been clipped close to the C280 connector pin, doubled back along the wire harness and tucked into the factory harness tape.

Any knowledge / ideas as to why this would be done ?

The wiring diagram I have, shows the RF door going to C280 pin 7. Best guess is that the door latch itself wasn't fully latching or the switch on it failed and the owner just cut the wire instead of doing the repair to get the dash light or interior lights to shut off.
