I have a 98 Explorer sport, on which the doors have rubbed the paint off of the door frame, leading to rust before I noticed it (the first time) the dealer cleaned it up and repainted. They put new rubber bumpers on the door and supposedly adjusted them. 2 months later I noticed the doors had rubbed through the paint again (not sure how long it had been rubbed, I didn't look for fear of what I would find). When I took it back I was told the doors were hung properly and not rubbing when being opened/closed (I saw them check, they weren't). I was given a crappy touch up paint job. Heres where I need your help, if you have a 97-99 Explorer SPORT, please do this for me and post back whether they have rubbed or not. Open the driver side door, on the bottom of the door frame, on the right side , look in the curved part of the frame, and just before it, on the outermost "lip" or edge of the door frame. The rubbed spots are small approx the size of ( ). If it is rubbed, look at the bottom corner of the door (you'll have to kneel or lay down) and you'll see the corner is rubbed also (check passanger side also). Again, please post back even if yours did NOT RUB, as I am gathering info to use against Ford. Please include year, color, 2 or 4wheel drive, purchased new or used, and estimate mileage. Thanks for your help, and sorry for the long post.
