I have an auto tranny and if I am driving along at 30-40Km/h and I punch it(absolutely wide open) my tranny downshifts twice and I really take off. My revs climb up to redline and I shift and everything is normal but is the fact that it double downshifts bad? or maybe good? or normal?

Normal. It could be a double downshift, or one could be your torque converter unlocking, then a shift.

Not sure what Ford did to the older 4-speed autos, but when they designed te 5-speed automatics, Ford purposefully programmed them to go through all gears when downshifting. It's kind of rediculous when going 50 MPH to have to go through 4th, 3rd and then finally into 2nd to get to the proper gear. Fortunately my SuperChip took care of that.

Mine does that too, but it seems to do it more when overdrive. I think its just kicking out of overdrive, then dropping one more gear
