Ok..got 09 with 92k..my buddy whos a ford tech put in a new solenoid for my tranny..i boght a brand new one not remanned..long story short..i had a severe downshift thud from 2 to 1. I mean it thumped entire steering column..and did it every time..and was worse on really hot days. After replacing...downshift thump is gone...so i thought...if i decellerate at a quick rate like traffic coming to a stop..it will do a tiny thump. If i do a smooth deacceleration..it downshifts perfect! I cleaned throttle body today..completely removed and now is spotlles..did a pcm reset...thought may help? Nope..she idols perfect now..but the bump still there (very small).

Any ideas? Is this a software issue..or tps...i want no bumps! Thanks

Servos

I have the same problem. I had a shift pack servo fail at 160,000 mi and replaced the shift pack. From that time I had a 2nd to 1st downshift bump. I drove it for 80,000 mi until torque converter went. I rebuild the trans and did the sleeves on servo boars. I did not replace shift pack as I wanted to see if rebuild would fix the bump but its still there. I have noticed that resetting the pcm seems to make the problem go away for a short time but once pcm recalibrates it comes back. It bumps hard when coming to a fast stop but not noticable when slowly coming to a stop.

2008 V6 with 100k miles.

Sign me up for the same downshift bump during quicker deceleration. I actually came to the site this morning to research this exact issue because it was fairly noticeable yesterday as I did a drive with alot of stop lights.

So sounds like there is basically no hope for us based on the video. To sum up the 7 minute video; The servo rod is much harder than the aluminum servo bore so the bore is wearing out and growing wider. The servo bore is part of the transmission casing so there is no quick fix.

Kinda sounds like we just have to wait until it gets real bad and swap the tranny.

Anybody know of any better tricks?

I just did mine but really wasnt getting a downshift bump or really any signs of going bad.did it as preventive..

But if you google people have put thousands of thousands of miles on the servos with the orings and haven't had any issues. .there is a thread on here like ""how many miles on servo fix"" or something like that..ill research it again and see if i can find a link.

The OP might be something different but from what i read the oring servos and the updated gasket/solenoid usually fixes it and the tranny last for years..its important to readjust bands properly and obviously nothing is going to fix it if its to the point of needing new clutches and bands

I have a 2006 V8 with 6R60. I changed my fluid putting SP back in it and didn't change anything. What I noticed is when the AC on fresh air, water drips all over the electrical connector and causes it. Putting it on Recirc makes it go away. I had read this somewhere on this site. Maybe I will crawl up under there someday, disconnect the plug and spray silicone spray on the exposed prongs.

Oh also I have 228,000 miles on it with no problems so far...

The issues we are talking about is on the 5r55 models

I would just like to give some news on the bump problem. I replaced the shift pack and the bump went away!

Pretty sure the solenoid pack is what he's referring to. I jade the real bad bump and new solenoid fixed that..but I've done some research and believe I need to grease the splines for my small bump. Since it's a one piece it still needs grease..also noticed with cooler weather out here in as sometimes it won't do it at all now..so I think it may have to do more in hot temps. Also ac may be dripping on connector like others mentioned
