Just bought my '96 3 weeks ago. Took it back to the dealership when the "Check Engine" came on as I drove it home and they replaced the DPFE sensor - on them :) . 10 days later the light came on again so I took it back. This time it's the O2 sensor, and they SAY it's unrelated and I had to pay for the repair  . Anyone know about the relationship between these sensors? I figured it was part of the original problem and they should have covered it - am I wrong? Also, would this be something that may be covered under a powertrain warranty? I'm just not up on all this stuff......Thanks!

02 sensors and DPFE are somewhat similar, but not exactly. DPFE simply senses the pressure in the exhaust which then will add more or less exhaust gas to the mixture. 02 sensors just simply read the oxygen content to get your 14.1:1 (air to fuel) ratio. I don't think it is under powertrain warranty, since powertrain consist of mainly Engine, Transmission, axles, and what connects them all.

Wellcome to the site.
The DPFE problem and the sensor problem are not related.
If you have over a 100K miles, the sensors are degrading.
