Hi. Many thanks for reading this thread.
I Germany I bought for a small fee a 00 explorer. Was not in the road for more than 5 years. I changed all fluids, battery and fuel pump and the engine runs perfect. Reverse gear works fine, but in D the engine turns off. I lift the car on all 4 tires, shift in D and the tires runs, tranny shift and all is fine. With tires on the floor the engine Stopp in D position. No codes in engine/ transmission stored.
Thanks for helping me.
Marko

Describe how it turns off. Video would be best.

What happens when it’s off the ground and in drive and you step on the brake to stop the wheels?

I would start by investigating the TCC (torque converter clutch). Sounds like it may be stuck in the "applied" position.

A Chevy car I worked on recently was doing this same thing. The problem turned out to be something called a "modulator valve". The valve was replaced, and the problem went away.

Do the Ford transmissions have a modulator valve associated with them?
