2001 explorer sport trac
I have a 2001 explorer sport trac . It has this whirring , winding, noise that seems to come from the front part of the drive lines . It starts the noise as soon as the truck starts down the road and all the way up to highway speeds , but seams to be less at high speed . Just got back from a week traveling and it is all ways the same. Maybe this is normal for this truck, :p: Oh I got this truck about a month ago Thanks

I have looked some other noise problems, on the forms here.. now I should say that my 4x4 makes the same noise all the time . Turning or not

I have an 01 and that noise is NOT normal..have you checked your serpentine belt..does the noise change pitch dependent on gear? if yes it could be tranny bands

Thanks Chonicrage.. But it is the the dive lines somewhere , transfercase chain cv joints , or outer wheel hubs . When I dive out of my dive way and open my side door and hang out the noise is less than when the doors are closed , coming from rigth under the cab , it,s like a bearing noise , but after my week long trip, something should failed by now ,,

I was driving on a bad hub for 3 months. Never really got any worse, would just sorta "flair up" every now and again. Some days nothing, others it was unbearable. The first time it reared its ugly head, I thought the tranny smoked itself. Finally took off the wheel and brakes to make sure before I ordered the $300 Ford part (no, not the cheapest, I know, but its a Timkin, and Canadian dollars). It was obvious at that point then I could feel it with the wheel on.
