On my 2006 Ranger,3ltr,auto(R55 I think),2X4,160K I get a floor pan rumble that starts at 60-62 MPH/2100rpm and gets worse the faster I go. UV joint was replaced at 110km, no shimmy in front end. I may have a slight use in my passenger tie rod, but the steering is calm.

I'm thinking of jacking up the rear axle on stands to eliminate road noise and giving it a spin at same rpm and mph. It occured to me to try OD off, and that will change the shift parameters and tell me something too, but I'm afraid of over-reving my fourth gear. I'm going to check this morning to see if I have all my wheel balancing weights still attached.

It doesn't sound like the UV problem I once had. At that time it shook at 50mph, but eventually disappeared the faster I went. I drive it around and it works OK otherwise, changes gear normally, no rumble as long as I don't go higher than 62ish.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

If it's a Supercab, maybe the driveshaft carrier bearing.
