This has probably been asked before, so apologies in advance. Have been noticing that my driver's door doesn't close smoothly and has to jump up a bit to latch. Is there an adjustment I can make to fix this? Thanks, Ed

edit: The hinge pins are available for about $4. Looks like they just pop out, but might be a harder job than it looks.

If the door latch is hitting the locking bar on the frame when it closes and thus "jumping up" a tad bit, then your door hinge is worn. I had this exact same thing happen on my '97 Ram 1500. Larger bushings and hinge pins may help for awhile, but in the end you'll end up replacing the hinges.

Yeah, with some research, I figured out it's the hinge pin. Not sure if I have to replace the whole hinge or just the pin. Maybe the whole hinge would be easier.....looks like it's bolted on.

edit: The hinge pins are available cheap, and look like they just drop in. Not sure how hard it will be to get out the old one. If anyone has done this, please let me know.

Usually first the bushing inside the hinge pin hole wears, and then the hinge pin actually starts to wear. You don't want to just pop the hinge pin out or the door may misalign on you while you're trying to support it. I'd get two pins (since they are cheap), drive the first one up FROM THE BOTTOM to hold the door in place while you get the bushings and new hinge pins in place to drive back down FROM THE TOP.

Disconnect the door wiring harness from the pillar mark and unbolt the door, set door aside and remove the pins put new pins in and bolt door back up. It is much much easier to remove the pins and bushings with the door off, It can be done with the door on but it will be a pita, This thread will help http://www.explorerforum.com/forums...has-door-hinge-pin-replacement-w-pics.182050/

its on a 1st gen but the process is the same for most vehicles
