Hey guys,
I was searching through the threads for some performance upgrades and I found this thread about a 250 HP engine for $1000 of bolt ons.

Unfortunatley, it ended without the Dyno results from NeedForSpeed. NeedForSpeed, did you get them? Does anyone else know? Thanks.

I was watching that while it was going on and.... I don't believe it ever amounted to anything worthwhile. I think he (NFS) was blowing smoke. Perhaps 250hp can be had out of our 4.0L motor, but serious doubt it could be done without internal work(short of NO2 - motor won't last very long). Bolt on such as blower, turbo = more than a grand. Sounds like he just wanted to stir up a little controversy for a few weeks. Nick(flyguy) has probably done more work to his motor than many here and he isn't getting numbers even close to what this guys says and has shelled out more than a grand already.
I'm gonna go beat on something :hammer:

tis true. Check out my results at the thread.. compresson ratio. I only gained 20hp with my listed mods... not including my headers. Im verifing that 20hp this friday...keep ya posted! :) Speaking of.. the NFS guy is full of it... :)

I figured that, but it spark my interest if whether or not that kind of horsepower could be had without any major engine mods. Flyguy, how many horses are you pushing and with what mods?

Well.. the most I was able to coax was 139.7hp at the rear wheels. That was with a little bit of engine tweaking though... I think I could have gotten about 1-3 more hp if I would have spent some more time... but I was pretty disapointed at that point... oh well. top speed was around 105 (overdrive wouldnt work...) and 191.4 torque... so...it looks like a have lot more work to do. :)

Hey guys.. with the rev/speed limiter... whats the deal with that? Arent aftermarket chips supposed to remove the limiter? When mine hit around 105 and went into overdrive... my engine started misfiring extremly bad... the dyno guy said it was my limiter... I was pretty confused... anyways... no more of that!! how do I get rid of it?

FLYGUY

What is your opinion on your slotted rotors? I'm tired of the poor braking even with front and rear discs. Are the slotted rotors worth the $$?

I like em. they bite pretty hard. Kinda pricy... but Ive screeched the tires a few times sense Ive had them.... they cost me around $300ish after getting pads and all that... but my rotors needed replacing anyways... and I can stop on a dime now. :)
