e85 or gas with 10% eth just a thought

how about this... can't remember where i read this but i think that e-85 has certain problems like being able to absorb water more so than gasoline, with that said would gas with 10% introduce more water in the tank .say after so many fill ups you end up witha puddle floating around in there:eek:

also if gas with alcohol added, would it be more prone to evaporating more quicklly?

They used to have "Dry Gas" as an additive to remove water from your tank. It was ethanol or methanol or isopropyl alcohol. I don't know if they still sell it or not.

what about a gallon or two of E85 to a tank of regular to offset cost???

maybe but i would really worry about my injectors and pump that much alcohol in a system not designed to run e85 may start to cause corrosion in the fuel system .

ethanol

:can:
In Canada, an alcohol has (usually methanol) has been added to the
gas for many years to prevent gas line freeze ups. Either ethanol or
methanol (methyl hydrate) blends easily with the water in the gas to
make it combustable. The mix is discontinued in the fuel sold in summer
months.
1. The trivial loss in mileage is a small price to have winterized
gas.
2. When towing a car back from Florida, with southern gass in the
tank, it is best to add some ethanol or methonol before you
meet very cold weather.
