egr (DPFE)

I have a 96 2wd and the engine light is on. The code is P0402. After doing some research I think the problem is the Differential Pressure Feedback EGR(DPFE). When I asked for this part at Advance they looked at me like i was stupid. Does anyone have a part # or a simple way to ask so the know it all behind the counter kind find it. Thanks Clay

Ask for a EGR Valve Position Sensor (part #Niehoff Ignition FE5007).

DOH!!! Hold up..........I didn't see you had a 5.0. That number is for the 4.0.

Advance lists two for the 5.0, which look very different.

GP Sorensen 77911007 (looks like most DPFEs I have seen)

GP Sorensen 77911000

Hopefully, more of an expert than I will pop up here, because I am unsure about these two different sensors.

I looked in the Ford workshop manual, and it says the 5.0 is not a DPFE system in 96, but uses a vacuum regulator solenoid. Hope that "helps" somehow.
