dpfe's of the metal caseing type are known to go bad ( even new out of the box) the new motorcraft part is now in a plastic case and also a new style connector is required .

motorcraft part # -----> 4W1Z9J460AA ( w/new connector)

.... the " 4 " at the start of the # is for the new connector kit...if you find this and the part number starts with a " 1" then the kit does not have the new connector .....also it's best to solder the connections instead of crimp connectors .

this is just for anyone with egr code problems ( like 327 , 332 , etc...) that when your engine is spitting out codes for such then 8 times out of ten the dpfe module is the culprit ( SO BUY THE CORRECT PART THE FIRST TIME, it will save you alot of headache if you don't ) .

tho it's better to have silicone hose's to hook it up with ( rubber will not with stand the temp's for very long and crack) ...i tried to locate silicone hose's but none of my parts store around me carried them .

~Right ON~

I've still got to pass the DEQ test, and your image gives me hope...

My truck did not start smoothly the other day, it kinda sputter/backfired.. Then everything went WAY south.. Brakes/Idle/Everything..

FOUR of the vacuum lines popped off, and I've only been able to find three of the lines to reconnect. PLEASE - can someone help me NAME THAT VACUUM LINE?

I've placed a 1-1/2" hose on the spout and plugged it for now. Truck runs like a champ - but I don't want to leave it this way.

~PLEASE~

what you can't see is that where the transmission modulator vac line hooks in there is just a cap on one of the ports .

i ran new lines for my egr solinoid to the vac tree and also to the egr valve
( like a dummy i was working on the truck in 33f weather and busted them) ,so what i'm trying to get at is from what you see on the vac tree is not really the way it came stock if your trying to compare ports to what goes to what ....also the fuel regulator has a new vac line ( rubber )

the line you got capped off in your pic( one on the left ) is now my egr solinoid vac line .

just make sure that when your lines poped off that you look for some that maybe behind the engine on the back side ...the only 2 i can think of is the fuel regulator and your climate control vac line ( for the passenger side of the truck )+ ( for heater core and supplies vac power to the inside slide controls ...just one line tho that does this )

vac lines should be :
(on my truck )

heater/ac system
fuel regulator
cruise
brake booster
egr solinoid
transmission modulator
blank port ( capped off with a vac cap )

so thats 6 and there are 7 on the tree i think ...sounds like you nailed it but in the future you may want to goto auto zone and look in their fuel filter section and there should be small packages of new vac port fittings ( just like the ones on the truck) ...you may want to replace yours or get small hose clamps and clamp the vac lines down so that that they will not come off again ...i could have done this but for me with extra rubber vac line lying around the house it was a better option for me for some of the systems i re-ran lines for .

btw: disregard the pic of the line with a screw in it ....that goes to something else i added in the engine compartment and has nothing to do with the vac lines or the engine in any way .

Just a note on those old aluminum DPFE sensors. They can be rebuilt if you are REAL cheap. Drill out the rivets and you will find a big corrosion nodule pressing on the disk. Scrape that away and use screws to put back together. Nice silicone gaskets can be reused and make it an easy job.

~Thank you~

You are a GODSEND~

Thank you, that is MORE than I was asking for. The simple element of confirmation that there IS a vac-cap involved was all the answer I could ask for. The 'directions' in Autozone are a blessing too, though. I know what I'm doing for the Holliday~!

And I got a big grin out of your 'BTW' comment -- right after I noticed the screw-cap in a vac line, and wondered that out loud.. :exp:
