I have noticed that the OEM fan can really pulls some air volume which is great for keeping the engine and AC system working as it is suppose to...

But, I was wondering how much fuel it consumes to turn that fan all the time vs an electric fan that will switch on only when needed... and never while driving down the highway..

HAS anyone installed one and if so.. what MPG and power increase have you noticed

Thanks!

I wonder this is a good idea

ive read a bunch of threads on this. just search it on this forum. i believe that most people going with electric fans in their explorers are using the electric fans from crown vics.

LONO

I did a search first.. and too many items with just Electric, or Fan, etc.. so I figured I would open a thread on this. (it's this why there's a forum? to ask questions and stuff? haha)

In real terms, it's a waste of time and money unless you just want to do it for the exercise. Similar to the debate over mechanical v. electric.

Search Aldives mileage monster thread. He always documents exact gains on each mod.

JOECRNA,

Thanks! great link... sad about his passing tho... I am glad the mods keep his post for others to continue to learn from his hard work.

I found the answer(s) I needed. I will be installing a electric fan
