Electrical problem.

2004 Merc. mountaineer: Love it, but it just dies while running. Electrical, obviously. Battery is completely dead and will not start. Battery has been replaced, plus alternator. Not safe when there are kids in the car. Where can the problem be?? Any help would be appreciated.

Battery light on? We have had lots of problems with aftermarket alternators on 02 up Explorers. Look real good at the wiring by the battery, sometimes the supply wires to the alternator get corroded.
