2016 Ford Explorer Limite
Hello, everyone. This is my first post here but I've been a lurker here for the last few months. Thanks for all of your helpful info as I've found some great advice already. I have a 2010 Explorer XLT 4x4.

Here's something I'm not so sure about. I can't tell if these are somehow related or all separate, or where the problem might be coming from. But with the weather getting colder, I've noticed a few electrical hiccups. The first thing to happen was the audio controls on my steering wheel have gone crazy. Sometimes, it's like they've been rotated clockwise as the top 2 buttons now seek, the bottom right turns the volume up, and the bottom left acts as the media button. Sometimes, they're perfectly fine. It happens very randomly. The next thing to happen is the front passenger door speaker randomly stops working. It lasts for a few seconds whenever it comes off, but can get pretty annoying when it (randomly) acts up. Just today, the tone as if a door opens was randomly going off. Also, the information center would say the cargo door was open at random times. The tone and the indication wouldn't occur at the same time, however.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

You have got an electrical short somewhere. Sounds like a nicked line some where, but based on the symptoms I don't have a clue where to have you start. Maybe the stereo is starting to go south?

Is it a factory stereo head unit or aftermarket?

It's the factory stereo.

I would suspect the Stereo as the main culprit!

Thanks! I think for now I'd like to swap it out for another factory stereo, but with the 6-disc option. Would any Ford stereo from roughly 2006-2010 work (the stereo in my wife's old 2008 Fusion looked like the same stereo)?

No, I don't believe it will without some modification (06-08 maybe, but after that ??). Search over in the audio section and you should find your answer.

Sounds good. Thank you for the help!
