Well, the time of year has come for the annual emissons test in order to pay for my tag, and this time around, the POS failed. Every reading was fine except for the carbon monoxide in the 50/15 test (from 50mph to 15?)- the allowed amount was 1.24%, and the measured reading was 3.12%.
The truck has been running fine, and mileage hasn't suffered at all (if you call 14-15mpg 'not suffering'
). Now, I'm due for an oil change, and I've been meaning to put new spark plugs in it for a while. Would these things being overdue be cause enough for the CO reading to be that high? If not, what are some other things that I can do to hopefully lower the CO reading in order to pass the emissions test?
This weekend I'll be changing the oil and spark plugs, and I'll also get some fuel system cleaner as well. Is there anything else I can do?
