engine question

Ok so we bought a 1992 Explorer that may or may not have engine troubles. We have a totaled 1994 Ranger, that we bought for the motor, it only has 50,000 original miles. Could I take that motor and put it in the explorer? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

'91 to '94 4.0's, whether Explorer or Ranger, all use the same long block. Worst case scenario, you'll have to strip the '94 down to the long block and attach the '92 stuff to the block. This assumes the Ranger has a 4.0 and not some other engine.
