good afternoon
Hope someone can help soon. Have a 2003 Ford Explorer v6 with 136000 miles. Just installed a new AC clutch, pulley and coil. Every time turn on AC, the engine stalls, every time. Was trying to get to run so can refill with R134a refrigerant. Have any of u had this problem? If so, how did u resolve it. A video would be very nice or some very good instructions on how to troubleshoot this issue. Thanks
Hope to hear from ya:)). Have a good weekend

Does the compressor rotate at all before the engine stalls? What does it do if you give it some throttle while turning on the air?

Sounds like you installed a new clutch and coil on a locked up A/C compressor to me. Should have just replaced the whole thing.
Yea, that's what I was trying to determine.

SUV_Rider - these things idle kind of low anyway, so a locked up compressor will stall one. See if the compressor turns at all when you engage the clutch.

Yes it rotated initially but cuts off right after. After this post, I adjusted the air gap on it, fired it up, then the compressor blew up so to speak. Found two chips of the compressor housing on the floor of garage after pulling vehicle out of garage. Just purchased a used compressor @ $50 from local used truck part store. Hopefully, it's a good one. They gave me 45 day warranty on it. Quick question, should i add oil to compressor prior to cranking engine because I did because some leaked out onto the floor after removing from engine. Just wonder if too much oil could have made it blow up. Appreciate your response, thanks very much

Yes it did but after adjusting air gap on clutch, the compressor blew up. I think the compressor locked up too. Got a used one the past weekend. Now have to install to see if that takes care of it. Thanks for your time, appreciate it very much
