I have a 92 explorer with 200K miles and the headgasket is blown.
i'm undecided on whether i should replace the headgasket and leave it at that, have the engine rebuilt, or swap in a V-8.
i really like the swap idea, but it does seem a little expensive (new engine, transmission, trasfer case, exhaust, etc...).
here's why it might not be such a bad idea:
the engine has 200K miles
the 4wd stupid electronic transfer case work when it wants to (currently hasnt worked since december)
the manual transmission is leaking now after being slammed on some rocks
the exhaust it torn up (the white smoke from the blown headgasket made me see just how many exhaust leaks it has)
OR
should i just get rid of it?
What would you do?
