As I was on the emotional high of having swapped out my non-working leccy aerial for a flexi-fixed one, I decided to tackle the radio (Ford 7000 HU with no display but otherwise works).

Epic fail as I cannot find my torx tool to get at the torx bolts to access the innards of the device to attempt a fix. I now realise that I have a radio, with a non-working display, that when put back into the car will need the code entering - but without display I'm not going to have much luck ;)

(I realise I can read the manual on how to enter the code etc. but I really should have checked I had the necessary tools to hand before I went ahead and pulled it all out ;) )

Happy Bank Holidays to everyone though! :)

Euro radios have an anti theft module. Hard to swap from one car to another, to prevent theft.

Ah. Well then. Makes some sense I guess.

So if Ford does that for the UK, why don't they do it here?

it's not much of a deterent as you can take it down the local market and get it re-coded for $20:D but it is a pain when your battery goes flat or you unplug it and can't enter the code

hi jim if you know the code it will still enter even it its not showing on the screen. cheers chris

Well who in the world is silly enough to buy a Honda? XD

I had the same problem with no display.
You can still enter the code and get the radio working though.
The code is entered as follows:
Repeatedly press button 1 for the required number - i.e. if the first digit of the code is 6, press button 1 six times.
Repeat this for the remaining 3 digits in turn via buttons 2, 3 and 4.
Then, once all four digits are entered, press button 5 and the radio - if not the screen - will come alive.
You just have to press the buttons carefully and count the presses accurately.
This has worked for me for the past 6 months.
However, for some reason, the screen on mine is now working all the time!
Good luck. GRoB.

the silly people that buy them, bring them to me to be worked one, and then even with the jumper box on the cables i cant seem to keep fro settin the codes.

best one was an accord. the cust had the code, but they changed the radio under warranty, and never gave them the new code

Ahaha, I bet that went real well, surreal, when the customer came to pick it up and was like WTF why isn't it working. :P

Thank you for the advice, sadly my hand-eye co-ordination doesn't quite stack up as well as I would like ;) Again, Howard very kindly saved my blushes ;)
