2013 Ford Explorer Sport
I read on another forum, which included a Ford document from 4-1-12) that the Sport model will apparently start production in early September. However when I asked my local dealer about ordering one, I was told that production would start the 2nd week of July. Big difference there. Which one is correct?

I ordered mine last night so the build date is def not September. Should be here in 6-8 weeks.

I'm wondering when parts for the Sport will be available. There are a few things I'd like to borrow and put in my Limited

Did you say lighted door sills or are those the voices in my head again?

Yes that and also the EXPLORER hood emblem would be nice. I haven't found anything online yet (including the official ford parts site)

Oooh...our XLT is slated to be built second week of july...maybe there will be an "oops" and they wikk drop in a 6 cylinder ecoboost...hehehe...i can dream!

My sales person said that they won't start building them until the beginning of September. I ordered mine on the 11th of June and the dealer still does not have a DORA. I would be curious to see if you do.

Guys I ordered my New Sport on June 8th at 10:12 AM.
I called Ford Marketing yesterday June 22nd @ 1-800-334-4375.
The lady said that they were processing the order as of today.
You need to give them your Order Number, Dealer Code, and the Name that is attached to the Order.

She also told me that Production would begin in late July.
But, here is a turn you wouldn't expect:
I want the Six passenger seating with the 2nd row console, and 3rd row power fold seating.

Ford won't add the 2nd row console, or the 3rd row power fold seat.

Or at least the TALKING HEADS THERE CAN'T MAKE A DECISSION on the 2 additions.

By the way I am getting the Optional Summer Tires on it. 265/45ZR20

The power fold 3rd row wouldn't be a big deal for me. Now, as far as the no-go on the console, I would think long and hard before getting one without it. It seems like a minor detail, but unless the sport seats have built-in inboard armrests, the lack of a console sucks big time. I would be figuring a way to get that console into that car, one way or another.

I’m sorry I missed your post the first time, Kirby Baker. Here’s what I found in the 2013MY Order Guide:

“JOB 2 ORDER GUIDE UPDATES – Effective on all vehicles built on or after Job #2 (09/04/12 – Subject to change)
• New Explorer Sport Series
• Fore/Aft adjustable 2nd row (40 section only of 60/40 bench seat)
• Summer only tire optional on Sport (late availability)”

Check out more details on the Sport here:

RAWSport & Brian67,

Welcome to the boards and congrats on your orders! I can help ease the waiting by looking up your statuses. Just drop me a line via PM with your order numbers and dealer details. :)

phareous,

Once they start selling the vehicle, the parts should be available.

You should get those voices checked out, Since95. ;)

That’s a pretty farfetched dream, Toddy. You’re better off clicking your heels together three times. :D

That’s great news on your order, burnettetf! Please forward me the details in a PM so I can research this further.

VinceL,

Edit:
No, the PowerFold 3rd-Row Seat is part of the “Luxury Seating Package” available on the Limited 301A and above. This and other “Luxury Features” (such as Active Park Assist, Lane Departure Warning/Lane Keep Assist, Rain Sensing Wipers, and Auto High Beams) are not available on the Explorer Sport; those are only on the more “luxury-oriented” Limited.

Regarding the 2nd-Row Bucket Seats, the 2nd-Row Center Console is not available on the 2013MY Explorer Sport. Many Explorer buyers that opt for the 2nd-Row Bucket Seats prefer not to have the 2nd-Row Center Console in order to improve access to the 3rd row. Further, the Bucket Seats do not include inboard armrests. This is the same seating option available on the Limited and (starting in 13MY) the XLT; although, those do offer the 2nd-Row Center Console option. We are currently investigating adding an optional 2nd-Row Center Console with the Sport for future model years.
