I’ve searched a lot on This with no clear answer. Can an 06 explorer 5r55s be swapped into a 2010 explorer? I have the 06 I built a couple years ago with low miles already. The 2010 trans is baked. I’ve seen they are the same, and I’ve seen the 09-10 are different. I know the valve body is different. from everything I’ve looked up ,it shows the gear ratios being the same. I also believe, the solenoid block is the same. So I’m not clear on why it wouldn’t work. If I can’t find an answer, I’m gonna have to take my good 06 guts and carefully try to transplant it All into the 10 case and valvebody to be safe, but id rather not. The only thing that even shows possibly different is the OD section, but I believe that was from 02-3 approx and possibly from the W ,not the S. Anybody have any more knowledge than I have here?

I don’t expect much if any reply to this, but today I pulled the wiring diagram to both years, and I can’t find any difference whatsoever in the wiring to the trans solenoid block, range sensor, speed sensors, etc. so as far as the ecu is concerned, it isn’t going to know any different. And the gear ratios from what I can gather are xactly the same with overdrive being .71. I know the valve bodies were changed in 09-10 but I can’t see that mattering if I swap the entire trans.

You might want to ask at a local trans shop if you have any around. Look for one that's been in business a long time. Sorry I can't help.

All they are gonna say is that it won’t work according to the book. Lol

Well, trans is bolted up. Stand by for fail. lol. It’ll either work or it won’t.

Good info to have. Let us know if things change.

Will do. All the wiring is the same,so I saw no reason to not try. Only thing that could be different is the tune itself since the valve body is for sure different somehow . But I can mess with that too, if needed.

About 1000 miles in. I was able to read the tune in both vehicles. It’s literally the same tune in both. I have since retuned the trans to better suit my driving prefererence, and fix a couple things I didn’t like. Not sure why they are said to not be compatible.
