I still can't get my 2002 Explorer to start. Replaced the starter relay switch yesterday and still have nothing. No click or anything. I am totally lost. Any ideas anyone has would be appreciated. I have dash lights and exterior lights but nothing when I turn the key over.

battery voltage while attempting to crank
voltage @ starter while cranking?
Nuetral safety switch (did you try cranking in nuetral and park)?

not much to got on in your post.

Clean the battery posts and cable clamps. Make sure they are tight.

Load test battery.

You tried all that? Please supply the voltage readings so we can analize.

How old is the battery? The starter draws a lot of current. I'd be worried about the current available. When you said exterior lights were you including the head lights? Make sure you don't have THIS PROBLEM.

Bad Key switch?

im starting to think that is what it is but how do i check it to make sure?

Does everything come on in run position? I'm not real familiar with the underhood of these, I've only had mine a few months, but if you can get it in run, you should be able to jump the solenoid with a screwdriver and it would crank/start.

I had a similar problem with my 2003. Everything looked good until I got the starter out and the bare woven wire that runs from the solenoid to the starter motor turned to dust when I tapped it with a screwdriver. No problems up to that time.
