Explorer gets recognition in Die Another Day

I was reading in one of the million car magazines I subscribe to (Can't remember which one right now) and was reading about the Aston Martin Vanquish in the movie and there is only one real Aston in the whole movie. The others (about 8) are real body and frames and interior but the motor is a carburated 302 putting out 325 horses. They are using the cars for the ice castle chase seen and they needed all wheel drive so they used the Explorer front end to power the front wheels. Just some gee wiz info.

either motor trend or car and driver.... the bolted up the exhaust systems to the jag and aston's stock exhaust, apparently the 302 howled in each of them, pretty cool stuff if you ask me

I think the only Ford motor better than the 302 is the 4.6 DOHC. Those 2 motors in my book are a great bang for the buck. Just so many performance parts. You can get a Rouche Racing 4.6 DOHC for under 5,000 with full waranty.

What we were told was the chassis of the Explorer was used, not just the front-end components. Still pretty cool though.

We had the cars here 2 days ago, unfortunately I didn't have a camera with me. The Jag was kind of cool, but I am not sure if it was a running model. The Aston was "just" a Vantage from someone upstairs (had a regular MI license plate), then the Jag was with the special edition paint and leather. They were driving the Aston to the garage when I was leaving, and boy did it sound awesome. The guy driving revved the engine a couple of times in the hallway too  .

Well, gee whiz:D:p Interesting......

Probably at Ford HQ in Dearborn. His location says Royal Oak, which is a suburb of Detroit.

Ford must have paid quite a nice sum of money to be in that movie. In addition to the Aston and Jag, there were plenty of new Range Rovers, the new Thunderbird and even a Volvo (not driven, but parked outside of the ice castle). That chase scene was pretty cool though.
