Question, I have heard you guys talk about the rear suspension on early Explorers and fitting it with parts from a Ranger. Are these the same? I mean, I found a whole bunch of ways to lift my Explorer but prices for lift kits for Explorers and Rangers are different. What is the difference between these lifts then and which one would you suggest to be the best? I'll probably want to go 4" max and just put 31X10.5 tires on stock Limited rims. Anybody been there? The reason that ranger lifts a more $ is because the springs are OVER the rear axle whereas the Explorers are UNDER. This means that you can lift the ranger by using 4" blocks. The explorer needs new springs or an axle over swap.

If all you want is 31s then just put 2" add-a-leaf in the rear and a 2" higher coil in the front. It will clear the 31s easy and will cost 200 or so for the parts.
